Bookmark or Share- Anyone Hunting Carrizo Plains?Hello Guys, I haven't posted in a while. I went to Carrizo 2 weeks ago and only bagged 1 bird. I did find a large covey, but hiked approx. 8 miles. The birds are there, but you have to really work for them this year. I hope, we get rain next year and the birds bounce back. Good luck everyone.

I’m a local this last year 2019 I was lucky enough to bag 2 hogs, 1 buck, 1 coyote , and 1 badger curtesy of the spot I call “the honey hole”. Just this year in 2020 I’ve already seen over 10 deer and 50+ hogs ( prob the same group ) but I see them about 80% of the time I go out.
- Carrizo Plains?? | Jesse's Hunting, Fishing & Outdoors Forum ...i went up in the hill bordering carrizo opening weekend, We parked and get the labs out and I say theres a few quail right there, ended up being a covey of about 100 birds, the 3 of us ended up with 3-4 each and we went to a different location, jumped up another 50-60 birds, got a few each, as we were about to leave, i hear chuckars up in the rocks and we make a push towards the top, cousin ...
- Carrizo Plain... | Jesse's Hunting, Fishing & Outdoors Forum ...The Elkhorn Road I mentioned is off Hwy 58 from Taft. Not even sure if that's part of Carizzo Plain. But, yeah, Elk Hills is dry; no water and not many chuckars there recently. No chuckar, but scouted lots of quail west of Cuyama. I believe that's part of the Carizzo Plain and is open for hunting.
