The saguaro (/ səˈ (ɡ) wɑːroʊ / sə-(G)WAR-oh, [5] Spanish: [saˈɣwaɾo]; Carnegiea gigantea) is a tree-like cactus species in the monotypic genus Carnegiea that can grow to be over 12 meters (40 feet) tall.
