Bookmark or Share- 50#, 65# or 80# braid on fathom 25n 2 speed? | Bloodydecks - BDoutdoorsI just got my fathom 25n 2 speed and I am debating on how to spool it. I'm matching it with a 7ft rod rated 50-100lb braided line. I'm planning on spooling it to the top with braid and use short flouro leaders that can range from 30# flouro to 50#.
- Braid to Leader Size: By Diameter, by pounds, or just preference?For me i like the thicker braid for casting and flexibility in the lines i can fish. Thicker braid casts much easier on the conventional reel, good luck picking out a backlash in 20lb spectra! Also having heavier braid like 50-65 makes it so i can fish from 25-50lb top shots on the reel. Another benefit of braid is its ability to cut through kelp.
- How many of you use spincast reels? ..how many use braid with them?Update on spincast reels in general and braid: Some spincast reels do not cast light lures using braid due to braid's slightly coarser texture and especially when the cap's line exit hole is small. In that case, fluorocarbon or mono work far better casting 1/16 oz or heavier lures a longer distance without linr hanging up inside the cap.
- Best 100# braid | Bloodydecks - BDoutdoorsI just got a Mak 20 and want to put good 100# braid on, my favorite braid right now is Varivas but they don’t make a line greater than 85#. What is the best 100# line that provides spools big enough to fill the reel. Reading the specs say it fits 700 yards of 100# so it’s going to be tough to get the right amount.
- Braid for SPJ | Bloodydecks - BDoutdoorsIt is also one of the quietest spectras I have used. Have recently however.. in jigging applications,, switched to the Daiwa J-Braid in 40# in the metered multi-colored braid for jigging because Sufix does not make the 832 in a colored metered line. That metered line is a must for jigging tuna in 2000 ft of water.
