Bookmark or Share- Solved: Black boxes over text - Adobe Community - 8739151I recently encountered this same problem, i.e. black boxes covering various portions of my PDF documents when I viewed them within Acrobat X Pro (with Windows 7). They were fine when viewed in the Chrome browser. After searching for an answer, I finally just tried making random changes under "Edit Preferences" and discovered the culprit.

As I move the cursor over areas where text occurs, it changes from the black box to an I-Beam cursor. Moving the cursor back over areas where there is no text or anywhere over the tools menu on the right side causes it to change back to the black box.

I did the following. 1 - Start Adobe Reader DC and uncheck "Enable PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer" 2 - I logged out and the back in Windows 10. 3 - Place a PDF to your desktop. It should show the PDF icon and not the miniature representation.
