Perhaps not surprisingly, I’ve seen that some of the characteristics of bad teachers and bad leaders are the same. They don’t communicate well.

That is not entirely true. No matter how competent a teacher is, it is possible for a student to be bad. Some students are incorrigible. This saying is not meant to be taken literally.

A bad teacher is one who doesn’t give a shit about the outcomes of their kids, one who doesn’t make the effort. It doesn’t seem that that is you. The good news is that you can get better!
