Bookmark or Share- ATf+4 vs DEXRON VI in an OD Chrysler TransmissionAll the old Chrysler AT's used something called ATF, pretty much like what was used in the GM's of the period. ATF morphed into Dextron, then Dextron II. I have a Dodge car in storage that has "use dextron II " imprinted on the dipstick. When they started putting lockup TC's in transmissions they had to come up with a different fluid.
- ATF: Amsoil Signature vs Toyota WS vs IdemitsuRavenol seems a lot like the idea behind Idemitsu, but I can't find published specs/data on it, so that's a red flag. MaxLife ATF looks like a competitor to Amsoil and it is actually certified for use in Toyota Aisin transmissions, but it just doesn't get the same level of rave reviews and people claiming it fixed existing issues.

Dexron VI and Dexron HP (including Mobil 1 LV ATF HP) meet different GMW specs, meaning they're tangibly different and not interchangeable. Dexron VI = 6-speed FWD and 6-speed RWD transmission, as well as supersession for Dexron III; Dexron HP = 8-speed RWD and 9-speed FWD transmission
- ATF+3 vs. Atf+4? | BobIsTheOilGuyATF+4 is backwards compatable with ATF+3. THe Cf is the same for the two fluids. ATF+4 has better cold and hot temp. performance and is more restant to oxidation. You can use ATF+3 anyplace ATF+4 is called for. I really do not see why you would want to do this though! ATF+4 is a really good fluid!!! What I like to do is order C+ATF from Redline.
