Bookmark or Share- contractions - Can we say or write : "No, it'sn't"? - English Language ...The answer is: no, it is not acceptable. A contraction is normally (and traditionally ) of two words, not three. So when you intend to say "it is not" you can either contract "it is" to "it's", or "is not" to "isn't".

(or) No men are better than women when it comes to maintaining relationships. My grammar book says "no" can be used with both singular and plural nouns, but I am not sure in this case and have some doubts about using plural nouns after "no".

When used in its most common fashion in my region, the phrase isn't stronger than "no." However, I believe it is fair to say the phrase can be thought of as an "emphasis," a verbal way to place an exclamation mark at the end of a "no."

The equivalent versions of "nor" are given as "and not," "or not," and "not either." The difference is that in your example, "You will not get help from Bob and not from Mary" makes sense. However, in Konrad's example, "there's no link and not button" makes no sense.
