Bookmark or Share- What's up with Crate Amps? Are they out of business?I currently own a Vintage Club 20 and a Vintage Club 50. Both are two channel amps, EL84 power tubes. The VC50 has four EL84s and the VC20 has two. The gain from both are surprising and with both having a master volume as well, they are pretty good for home/practice amps although the VC50 can hang in a club setting and easily match your drummer.

And often gets "fixed" by installing a new more efficient speaker, amps louder, volume knob goes lower and the "farty" sound is gone. That's why I'm a big fan of plugging into another speaker, without changing settings, to find out if it's an amp or the speaker problem.
