Bookmark or Share- How to download & transfer from Kindle or Amazon.com to PCThe documented way is to use the Kindle PC app and download the book inside that. The file will end up on your PC and only readable in the Kindle. The current versions download the book as a .kfx file that allows Kindle apps to do more with the data. Older versions downloaded the file as a .azw file. The USB option does need Kindle hardware.

- amazon - how to view the download queue for a Kindle - Ebooks Stack ...There does not appear to be a built-in app, menu item, or button that allows you to view the download queue. On my Kindle Fire HDX, however, I can swipe down from the top, and any in-progress downloads are shown in the notification/message area. Tapping one of those takes me to the download queue page.
