My guess is that QF and other carb manufactures do this by design as a too rich carb will always start and run semi well... most average guys will never tune any deeper than the mixture screws. Too lean will cause all sorts drivability issues. Jeff Evans.

You can open the other end and nothing will come out because there's nothing to replace the water with. By turning that valve, you allow air to enter the line.

Drop the sump pump in the bucket of water. Attach the other hose to the other drain valve. Put the free end in the bucket. Close off all the other zones. Open both drain valves. Turn on the pump.
