Bookmark or Share- "in" or "at" the area | WordReference ForumsHello, what preposition should be used with "area" when talking about the area around a definite street in a city. for example: I don't want to live in (or at) (name of the street) area. Or maybe there's another way to specify the area adjacent to a street. thank you :)

'Right' in this usage means immediately or absolutely next to. In the example quoted, which sounds like a user manual, I would prefer to be more precise and say 'the function is labelled above the button' (or below, left, right, or wherever)

Note that "on a table" and "at the table" are not in free variation and "on the table" cannot replace "at the table" where it means "sitting adjacent to the table in readiness to eat".

In a legal context, "consecutive" prison sentences come one after another without a break, but the usual meaning of "consecutive" allows a gap between two events, as does "subsequent".
