Following UPC means creating a system that does not rely on any mechanical parts that could fail. UPC doesn't allow as much wet-venting, and generally a UPC design will end up with a larger proportion of venting to fixtures.
- Laundry room drains - washer and sink on same drain with AAVThe bathroom downsteam will be vented temporarily with an aav, and then when renovations are continued next year on the upstairs bathroom, venting will be tied into the main vent that goes to the roof. For the washer and laundry tray, hopefully I've understood the wet venting problem properly
- Venting a shower with an AAV - Love Plumbing & RemodelThe shower drain is about 2 feet away from the wall where the AAV will go and 2' in the other direction from the DWV branch. I'm considering 2 ways to plumb it. This way is obviously simpler but I believe that's what is called a wet vent which I guess is frowned upon.
- Air Admittance Valve seems to be a problemWhen I remove the AAV, water flows freely--no problems, even during dishwasher discharge. I replaced the Studor Mini-Vent with a new one but the same problem returned. When I stop either drain, fill with water and remove the stopper, the water drains slowly with the Studor in place abut will flow freely when it is removed.
- Washing Machine + Slop Sink + AAV - Love Plumbing & RemodelThe AAV is a one way valve letting air in to prevent siphonage, which BOTH traps need and your AAV will provide. The positive pressure situation occurs if the discharge is greater than the pipe can accomodate causing a pressure buildup, which will limit or prevent, the drainage and affect the sink's trap.
