Bookmark or Share- Rachael vs Rachel — The BumpI only know a tiny bit of Hebrew but I don't think Rachael is a spelling that would be derived from the original language (someone correct me if I'm wrong though). DD born 10/10/07 * DS born 11/25/11 * #3 due 3/9/2015
- Mable vs Mabel - The BumpMable makes me think of maple syrup, however, Mable is a legit spelling so if you like it go for it. I don't have a common name and the spelling my parents chose is legit but far less common and I've always liked that.
- Caroline vs. Carolyn - The BumpWith that being said, most people these days utilize the Carolyn spelling if they want this pronunciation. So most people will assume that if you wanted it pronounced CARE-o-lyn, you would have chosen the Carolyn spelling. So they will assume you want it pronounced care-o-LINE. But once they've been corrected once, it probably won't happen again.
- sophie or sofie (sophia or sofia) - The BumpBoth are traditional- just from different counties. While both spellings make the top 50, Sophia is far more common. I really prefer Sofia, and often wished I'd used that spelling. We went for Sophia because we knew she was going to also go by Sophie and Sofie looks a little strange to me.
- Corrine vs. Corinne — The BumpI like Corinne much better- both in spelling and pronounciation. Report 1 Reply. ffejsGirl. January 2012.
