Bookmark or Share- Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usableI've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck: I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked. physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it
- Computer only detecting 8 GB of RAM instead of 16 GBIf you find that 16Gb is not reported as the total physical memory fitted. But the bios reports 16Gb of memory detected. It means that the configuration of windows has been capped to see, or use only a set amount of physical memory in it`s configuration settings. To check if the memory windows uses is capped. Click on start.
- Windows 11 High RAM Usage in Idle (8 GB / 50 %) / Memory Leakfacing high memory usage in idle - issue past few days. Main concern is none of the app is consuming memory but task manager shows it is in use but doesn't shows the process using it. so it's possibly memory leak. while in idle it consume half of my 16 GB memory, issue arises when i use some apps, it almost uses 80% of 16GB while using chrome only.

- Why is half my RAM hardware reserved and how do I free that up?I have the 64 bit version of Windows 10. I have installed 16gb of RAM. When I check task manager, it show that 8gb is hardware reserved. That seems very excessive. I have followed all posted instructions and nothing works to reduce the RAM reserved for hardware. (even using MSconfig and unchecking maximum memory) This is my system specs:
