Seems like the 128kbps mp3 has the high frequencies cut off in, but its difficult to hear those high frequencies for the average human. 256kbps AAC looks very impressive. Could you do a comparison between 256kbps AAC vs 320kbps MP3 using the same method above? Thanks for doing this.

Also, you might look into a fantastic little program called AudioBook Builder if you plan on ripping a lot of audiobooks. I used it to merge the tracks into chapters and add chapter art which is completely useless but very cool.
- Any Noticable Sound Diff. between 128 and 160KBPS?Just so you get an idea, 64Kbps MPEG-2 is approximately 128Kbps MPEG-1 audio compression, which may explain why you like to keep your audio at a high quality. I respect that, but I'm afraid this will not help swahilibill's situation, as swahilibill has most of his/her music compressed around 160Kbps and needs to further compress it.
- 128kbps: AAC or MP3 | MacRumors ForumsAAC is definitely superior at 128kbps, however there isnt much of a difference from 192 kbps and higher between either codecs. This is through Bose OE head phones, Sennheiser HD485s and Klipsch Image ONEs. For me I prefer at least 192 kbps mp3 format for compatibility with my other music players.
- Don't know what this does: convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps ...Just spent two days syncing to a new phone and, due to huge library, it took 48 hours to convert my songs all to 128kbps. NOW - if I wanted to go with full sized files, uncompressed and I unchecked the "convert higher bit rate songs" box, HERE IS MY QUESTION: would it delete all the files that I just synced and compressed, then replace them ...
