Bookmark or Share- expressions - Origin and meaning of "You catch more flies with honey ...My confusion comes from the fact that no one catches flies in order to do anything nice to them (Well, I suppose some people do. But it's not common!). When I first read it, I actually thought the phrase meant You'll have more success luring people into a trap by being nice than by being rude. This didn't make much sense in context, though ...

"I will pay for the meal." Here, will is very direct - the speaker is stating a fact. 4a "If you will start the cart, I will make sure the house is locked." - this sounds almost like a command.
- Phrase for something that is always out or reach/you almost have but ...I believe there is a two-word phrase for something that is always just out of reach for you and which you cannot ever seem to get.
- Which is correct: "when you have finished" or "when you will finish"?When you have finished to move the furniture, let me know. This is simply wrong. English speakers would not use the infinitive here, but the gerund form of the verb: "When you have finished moving the furniture, let me know."
- "Y'all" or "ya'll"? - English Language & Usage Stack ExchangeAs a Northerner, I have seen "ya" as an acceptable colloquialism for "you". However, I've never heard/seen "ya" go with "will", it has always been shortened to "you'll". The "ya" is well established in the Midwest due to the accents inherited by the northern European immigrants.
