We've designed an experience where you get to decide what you prefer, and then your links open in your preferred mode - either the Office web apps or the Office desktop apps.

- Share your Microsoft 365 Family subscription - Microsoft SupportMicrosoft 365 Family subscribers can share subscription benefits with up to five other people in their family group by sending an email or copying & sharing a link. Sharing is only possible if the invitee joins the subscription owners' family group.
- Share your documents - Microsoft SupportType the names or email addresses you want to share with, add an optional message, and select Send. After you've shared a document, the document and its metadata will show up automatically in the recipient's Shared view in OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Office.com experiences. - See files others have shared with you - Microsoft SupportTo see the list of files that were shared with you, sign into your Microsoft account, or a work or school account, then follow the steps in the appropriate tab below. To see the files that others have shared with you: Open Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Visio. If you already have a document or workbook open, select File.
