Bookmark or Share- Will light around outside of coop deter predators?That way it can help deter predators and provide automatic lighting for you for late night checkups. A persistent coon will likely eventually get accustom to the motion detector too though. They are rascals. I do think many other more skiddish predators would be deterred by motion detectors though.
