Bookmark or Share- Protection and security in Excel - Microsoft SupportFollowing are the different options available for protecting your Excel data: File-level: This refers to the ability to lock down your Excel file by specifying a password so that users can’t open or modify it. You have two choices here: File encryption: When you choose this option, you specify a password and lock the Excel file.
- Lock cells to protect them - Microsoft SupportFollow these steps to lock cells in a worksheet: Select the cells you want to lock. On the Home tab, in the Alignment group, select the small arrow to open the Format Cells popup window. On the Protection tab, select the Locked check box, and then select OK to close the popup.
- Create a drop-down list - Microsoft SupportIf the list of entries for your drop-down list is on another worksheet and you want to prevent users from seeing it or making changes, consider hiding and protecting that worksheet. - Freeze panes to lock rows and columns - Microsoft SupportHow to freeze panes in Excel to keep rows or columns in your worksheet visible while you scroll, or lock them in place to create multiple worksheet areas.
- Lock or unlock specific areas of a protected worksheetYou can lock only specific cells and ranges before you protect the worksheet and, optionally, enable specific users to edit only in specific ranges of a protected sheet. Follow these steps: On the Review tab, select Unprotect Sheet (in the Protect group). Select Protect Sheet to change to Unprotect Sheet when a worksheet is protected.
