Bookmark or Share- grammar - Is it acceptable to use "notably" at the beginning of a ...When using the transition, my intended meaning/interpretation is something of a cross between "Interestingly" and "Importantly". The second is too formal, in my opinion, but the first is limited to specific contexts where something is in fact interesting, as opposed to say "of notable quality." To me, it seems "Notably" strikes a good balance ...

Most importantly, Churchill was a statesman. Critics of those sentences would prefer "more important" (what is more important, I left the house) and "most important" (what is most important, Churchill was a statesman).

- word choice - "Most importantly" or "more importantly"? - English ..."More importantly" means "of these two things, this is the more important one". It's difficult to find the thing you're comparing to, but I suppose it's that the picture says a thousand words. So that sentence indicates that the speed with which a picture conveys information is more important than the number of words it conveys.
- Should I put a comma after or before “more importantly”?The phrase "more importantly" seems to be "nonessential", so I would surround it with paired punctuation. Commas probably work best, but I'll show other options, too: In addition, many scientists claim that physical knowledge or, more importantly, this ability to make tools led to our biological evolution.
