Bookmark or Share- Cold Stove, Wood Smoke Leaking into Home - Hearth.com ForumsThe house is dry this time of year so one should be more than adequate. Still have some smell downstairs this morning. Maybe not as much. I might try cracking a window in the bath tomorrow so that the air gets pulled in from there rather than from across the house.

We have a heat pump with mini splits in the study and in the dining room. The up stairs will have another few mini-split heads for room heating. The second picture is from 1904 from a funeral of someone in our house. Ours is the middle house with levels.
- CO2 levels when using stove | Hearth.com Forums HomeRecently got an indoor air quality monitor for the house. Was making sure no smoke was getting in due to asthma and allergy in the house. Everything looks ok other than CO2. It only went up quickly when I started the stove. I have CO meters throughout the house and nothing has ever shown up. Even on peak monitoring. I don’t think CO is present.

I grew up in a house that was set up for this and my brother has an older farm house thats set up for it. You will need an opening in the floor front the first floor to the basement the stairs to the basement is normally the cold air return.
- Help! Ash-like smell for days after burning a fireHello! I am hoping to get some answers to our fireplace woes. We purchased this 1993 home exactly a year ago. We have noticed that every time we burn a fire, the house smells like ash or campfire for a few days after, despite cleaning out the ash from the chimney. We have had the chimney inspected 2 times and cleaned once.
