Bookmark or Share- Lethal hit with no blood trail? - Hunt TalkHigh lung hit with poor bullet performance can often results in poor blood trails. Have seen it plenty of times with broad heads too. Basically a through and through. Don't get much blood until lungs fill enough to get blood draining out hole. - Hornady 130 gr CX - Hunt TalkI’m shooting the 139gr out of my 7-08 this fall. Two deer and one antelope so far. All 3 were around 200 yards and broadside. All three did a big jump, ran full speed for 50-100 yards and piled up. Massive blood trails compared to other monos I’ve used and definitely more damage in the carcass. Found copper fragments on the exit on one of them.
- Blood stain Antler - Hunt TalkI shot my first archery deer 10 days ago, a small muley in full velvet. I didn't have a desire to keep the velvet so stripped it all off the afternoon I shot it, and took off as much of the membrane as I could a few days later. It's been drying outside but I'm seeing what is either A) bloodstain, or B) blood in the antler.
