- Eldergays, tell me about Arsenio Hall - the Data LoungeArsenio Hall was going up against Letterman and Late Night with Jay Leno; that is some stiff competition. Adding to mix late night talk shows often benefit greatly from whatever lead in program proceeds (people lazy to change the channel, or whatever), and Arsenio Hall kept losing or couldn't find strong lead in programming.
- Reading "Carson the Magnificent" - the Data Lounge“ Brief mention of Arsenio Hall in the book - I don't remember this but apparently Hall's show was for a time the first and only real competition to Carson's and may have contributed to Carson's decision to retire.” SNL did a skit wherein Carson mimicked Arsenio to catch the hip crowd. Reportedly, Johnny was very unhappy with the skit.
- Johnny Carson and Joan Rivers - the Data LoungeIn retrospect, NBC was correct in not giving Rivers the gig because her Fox show was such a total disaster. But remember that Fox also put Arsenio Hall on as a replacement after she was fired and became a huge hit. It was not the network but rather Rivers. The audiences liked her in short doses but nightly and she became unbearable.

I was binge watching The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, and Will Smith made a couple of jokes at OJ’s expense. Arsenio Hall was another person in the community who ragged on him for it.
