France's top rabbi takes leave amid scandal

France's top rabbi has taken leave from his post after becoming ensnared in a scandal over alleged plagiarism and lies about his educational background. Richard Prasquier, the head of a leading French Jewish group, said Rabbi Gilles Bernheim asked for the leave at an emergency meeting Thursday of leaders of the Central Consistory of France. On Tuesday, Bernheim acknowledged making "mistakes" in an interview with Radio Shalom.

Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Use My Phrase! This is basically what Peter Berg told Romney in a letter, asking the politician to stop using the phrase "Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose."

Senh: "Your politics and campaign are clearly not aligned with the themes we portrayed in our series," Berg writes in the letter. "The only relevant comparison that I see between your campaign and 'Friday Night Lights' is in the character of Buddy Garrity -- who turned his back on American car manufacturers selling imported cars from Japan." Ouch!

 

Time, CNN reinstate Zakaria after plagiarism incident

All is forgiven for Time magazine writer and CNN host Fareed Zakaria, who last week was suspended by both outlets for apparent plagiarism. CNN said Thursday that Zakaria's weekly "GPS" public affairs program returns to the air Aug. 26. Time said in a separate statement that Zakaria's column would resume with the magazine's Sept. 7 issue.

Chicago Tribune staff demands answers from editor over Journatic

Continuing questions about Journatic’s ethics and business practices came into sharp focus earlier this month with the discovery that it had supplied a story to the Chicago Tribune’s TribLocal edition that contained allegedly plagiarized and fabricated elements. The concerns first emerged when National Public Radio’s “This American Life” broadcast a story showing how Journatic used cut-rate staff in the Philippines to write stories using fake, American-sounding names.
