According to the NAACP’s senior vice president of policy and advocacy, Hilary Shelton, cheers for Mitt Romney came from a group of black supporters who came to the speech with the presidential hopeful.

Vice President Joe Biden drew cheers from the nation's biggest civil rights group on Thursday with a fiery defense of President Barack Obama's record, and he warned that the election of Republican Mitt Romney could reverse years of economic and civil rights gains for blacks.

Republican Mitt Romney is telling black voters that he's a better choice than President Barack Obama to help build their neighborhoods and lessen unemployment among African Americans. But Romney was greeted with boos from attendees at the NAACP's annual meeting Wednesday in Houston when he pledged to repeal "Obamacare" ... Romney was heckled at another point in the speech when he criticized Obama.

The RNC is losing faith in blogger, Andrew Breitbart, of video editing fame (see: ACORN, NAACP). The RNC has cancelled a fundraiser with Breitbart, who falsely presented another heavily edited video, this time attempting to tag Shirley Sherrod of the NAACP as a racist.

Ousted Agriculture Department employee Shirley Sherrod said Thursday she will sue a conservative blogger who posted an edited video of her making racially tinged remarks last week. Sherrod was forced to resign last week as director of rural development in Georgia after Andrew Breitbart posted the edited video online. In the full video, Sherrod, who is black, spoke to a local NAACP group about racial reconciliation and overcoming her initial reluctance to help a white farmer.

Shirley Sherrod was terminated after a conservative website showed edited video of her at an NAACP event apparently saying she would refuse to help a white farmer.

Several prominent black Republicans came to the support of the "Tea Party," accused by the NAACP of allowing "racist factions" to persist.

The NAACP has passed a resolution that condemns what it feels is rampant racism in the Tea Party movement.

Benjamin L. Hooks, a champion of minorities and the poor who as executive director of the NAACP increased the group's stature, has died. He was 85.
