Iranian president calls on Obama not to interfere after remarks by U.S. leader.

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, ruled out compromise on the disputed election on Wednesday after a harsh crackdown on the streets.

A conservative candidate in Iran's disputed presidential election said Wednesday that he was withdrawing his complaints about voting fraud for the sake of the country, state television reported.

Obama blasted allegations of some in the Iranian government that the United States is "instigating protests" as "patently false and absurd." The accusations "are an obvious attempt to distract people from what is truly taking place within Iran's borders," Obama said.

Iran's Guardian Council ruled out the possibility of nullifying the results of the country's disputed presidential election, saying irregularities were reported before the balloting -- not during or after.

Protests in Tehran were much smaller than recent demonstrations, amid a crackdown by Iranian security forces. The Guardian Council said it had discovered some voting irregularities.
