Starting right guard John Dowd played today’s game against Air Force with his right hand heavily wrapped to protect a broken bone in his wrist just below the thumb. The senior was injured during Navy’s 24-21 loss to South Carolina on Sept. 17. Physician Jeff Fair, Navy's associate athletic director for sports medicine, created the protective contraption that resembles a large club, and Dowd began getting used to wearing it during practice.
