The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority will offer extended commuter rail and subway service after midnight on New Year’s Eve to accommodate South Shore and Metro Boston residents attending First Night in Boston. The MBTA will not collect fares after 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
