The recent rash of dog thefts has caught the eye of the city’s administration. Mayor Richard J. Berry announced Wednesday his office is offering a $5,000 reward pool for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the thefts. Animal advocates and law enforcement are concerned the dogs are being used as bait in conjunction with dog fighting. “We should be judged on how we treat our animals and this is absolutely unacceptable behavior,” Berry said in an interview.
