As rain drenched Jacksonville Sunday, the Mandarin Community Club didn’t let the weather dampen its Veterans Day observance. Club members have held a ceremony every year since completion of the Veterans Memorial at Billard Park in 2007. In past years, club officials laid a wreath in honor of the sacrifice of the military veterans at the memorial during the wreath-laying ceremony. Susie Scott, president of the Mandarin Community Club, said this year the ceremony was moved indoors and the wreath will be placed at the memorial on Veterans Day. read more
