A Maine political action committee that supported Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has asked the Cumberland County District Attorney to dismiss charges against three women who are alleged to have stolen Trump campaign signs from Route 1 in Falmouth. The Making Maine Great Again PAC issued a statement Tuesday night saying it was time for the state and nation “to heal its wounds so we can move forward in a united manner.” David Jones, chairman of Making Maine Great Again, said he met with an assistant district attorney Monday and she told him her office will consider dismissing theft charges against Elizabeth (Betta) Stothart of Falmouth and two other women. The theft of the Trump signs, which were owned by the PAC, made national news.
