Palm Beach County is taking steps to ensure golf courses and parks never encroach on dozens of designated “natural areas” across the county: There are about 31,800 acres of untouched land, rich with South Florida’s flora and fauna. The county’s effort was partly brought on by the state’s now-scrapped controversial plan to make changes to state parks, such as adding golf courses and pickleball courts, among other considerations, to some sites.
