KINGSPORT — The Liberty Celebration — a biennial patriotic musical extravaganza celebrating Independence Day — returns to the Toy F. Reid Employee Center this weekend. The fast-paced, tightly planned program weaves the “God and Country” theme and patriotism throughout the 90-minute presentation. It provides an outstanding opportunity to celebrate our nation’s freedom in a family atmosphere. The performance will feature adult and children’s choirs, a 40-piece orchestra, soloists, dance groups, dramatic presentations and a strong military emphasis with recognition of America’s servicemen and women. This year’s theme is “United We Stand” and was selected to recognize the need for our diverse nation to come together and celebrate the privileges and values that democracy has provided us for more than 242 years. Cadets with the Air Force JROTC program at Sullivan South High School will also perform an honors ceremony at the Liberty Celebration this weekend.
