Kinder Morgan announced today it’s suspending work on its $1 billion Palmetto Pipeline. The project was intended to connect an existing gasoline pipeline in South Carolina to a terminal in Jacksonville, but its route through Georgia was met with resistance from a coalition of landowners and environmental groups. Houston-based Kinder Morgan announced its decision on its web site: “Kinder Morgan has suspended further work on the Palmetto Pipeline project, following the unfavorable action by the Georgia legislature regarding eminent domain authority and permitting restrictions for petroleum pipelines.
