Johnson City Energy Authority board members, local leaders and utility employees gathered Tuesday morning to unveil the new name of the Johnson City Power Board: BrightRidge. Board members, who unanimously voted to approve the new name shortly before tarps were pulled from the utility’s sign in Boones Creek revealing the name and a triangle logo, said dropping “Johnson City” better portrays the utility’s geographical service area and losing “Power” distances it from its original business of being only an electric service company. “This change in brand establishes who we are,” board member Hal Knight, representing Jonesborough, said.
