CHURCH HILL - Janet L. “Jan” Whitaker, 77, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Holston Valley Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Whitaker was born in Big Stone Gap, VA but had lived the majority of her life in Church Hill. She had previously been a long-time member of Central Assembly of God, but Sullivan Baptist had been her home church for the last several years. She is preceded in death by her parents; Eldridge and Nora Snodgrass Jones. Survivors include her husband of 52 years Ernest “Butch” Whitaker, sons; Ernest “Chip” Whitaker II and wife, Teresa, Steve Whitaker and wife, Julie, granddaughter, Courtney Whitaker, special friend of the family Terry Bivens.
