KINGSPORT — Fellow Earthlings, next week we’ll have a chance to witness a rare celestial event: a super blue blood moon. Though it might sound like something out of an H.G. Wells story, a super blue blood moon is real, and it is happening on Tuesday and Wednesday. And for folks in North America, it’s the first time all three of these lunar phenomena have lined up since 1866. Adam Thanz, the planetarium director at Bays Mountain Park, explains what’s taking place next week and what we can expect to see. A super moon is a full or new moon when the moon is at its closest to the Earth.
