Historic Places: Rocky Mount Treats Guests Like It's 1791

If there’s anything the Cobb family loved more than the mountains that surrounded them, it was hosting guests. From the first governor of the Southwest Territory to everyday 21st century folks, the Cobb-Massengill home has remained a fixture of frontier life for more than 200 years.Now known to most as the Rocky Mount Living History Museum, the property surrounding the Cobb-Massengill home remains just as it was around 1791, with the exception of a few modern conveniences and museum galleries filled with local items from the 18th century.
