Updated 11:04 am, Friday, February 15, 2013 Financial and time constraints made staging a concert and inviting friends and family from across the country impossible, so the situation called for some wily husband skills — like showing that I have been listening all these years even when it's been assumed that I wasn't. First stop was an online search for “Where to stay in Wimberley,” which led me to All Wimberley Lodging. The cabin has access to the Blanco River for walks, a kitchen for cooking the birthday meal, a pool table and that all-important hot tub. The owner took the office and the area behind one of the three jumbo garage doors and turned it into a little slice of heaven. With the help of Groupon, we hit the Wimberley Valley Winery in Driftwood — one of about 30 wineries to choose from in the area — and the Cherry Blossom Massage and Wellness Center in Kyle. Since it was the middle of the week, we had the winery, hidden away on aptly named Lone Man Mountain Road, all to ourselves.
