ROGERSVILLE — Hawkins County needs several more applicants to keep a $500,000 grant awarded last year for the purpose of renovating the homes of the poor, elderly and/or disabled. In July of 2016, Hawkins County received the grant through the HOME program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and awarded by the Tennessee Housing Development Agency. THDA spokesman Wes Bunch told the Times-News earlier this week that Hawkins County still needs about seven applicants.
