A man has been charged with murder after police found him hiding near the scene of a fatal shooting in Commerce City last week. Fabian Benitez, 30, was charged with first-degree murder by the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, according to a news release. Police said Benitez was discovered hiding near East 62nd Avenue and Jasmine Court, where a person was found shot to death in a car early Sunday morning. Benitez is being held at the Adams County Detention Facility.

A former prosecutor in the Denver District Attorney’s Office will be disbarred after she framed a colleague for sexual harassment, a state disciplinary panel ruled this week. Yujin Choi falsely accused Dan Hines, a criminal investigator in the district attorney’s office, of sexually harassing her, according to the Tuesday ruling from the Office of Presiding Disciplinary Judge, which handles professional discipline for Colorado attorneys. Choi created fake text messages, altered her cellphone records and ultimately destroyed her laptop and phone to try to sell her deceit, the 26-page ruling found.

Colorado’s public health experts are urging awareness of the symptoms of norovirus, saying infections are climbing along with cases of seasonal respiratory illnesses. The virus primarily affects the digestive system — causing nausea, diarrhea and vomiting — and can be transmitted by coming into contact with or eating food prepared by an infected person.
