WASHINGTON, D.C. — Virginia’s 9th District Congressman Morgan Griffith, RSalem, on Wednesday called on members of the Senate to invoke the so-called “nuclear option” to thwart President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran.By Tuesday, Senate Democrats committed to supporting the president’s agreement with Iran, ostensibly guaranteed to keep Iran from developing a nuclear weapon for at least 15 years in return for lifting economic sanctions on the Iranian regime, reached 41 votes, or enough to derail a majority opposition vote Obama would be forced to veto.On Wednesday, Griffith said the Senate’s “nuclear option” in the Republican-controlled body to oppose the deal is an option that must now be considered.“The president’s deeply flawed and misguided deal with Iran is a serious security matter not only for the United States, but also for our allies in the Middle East.
