A baby giraffe has been born at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, as 20-year-old Muziki went into active labor Monday night. Watch the baby's birth on film at cmzoo.org/birthcam. This calf is the zoo's 200th. Another giraffe, Laikipia, could be giving birth soon too. Calves born at the same time to different mothers can have a bond stronger than giraffe siblings, said Amy Schilz, the zoo's animal care manager. "It's kind of like people who go to kindergarten and high school together and stay in touch," Schilz has said. The zoo last had dual giraffe births in March 2010, when males Mashama and Tumbili were born a day apart. Read more on Colorado Springs Gazette
