GATE CITY, Va. — A Scott County church was destroyed by a late Monday night blaze that quickly engulfed the building. On Tuesday, Virginia State Police investigators were photographing and combing the charred remains of Pentecostal Powerhouse Church. A few members of the 50-strong congregation were also on site, located off Route 58 and just west of Gate City town limits. Pastor Dwayne Williams says the two story, 7,000-square-foot building was constructed in 1986, and mostly by members of the church.
