MIDDLETOWN — Lt. John Ewanciw has been chosen as Middletown’s next chief of police.Ewanciw, 42, was approved unanimously by the Middletown Board of Police Commissioners at a special meeting Monday night. He took his oath of office Tuesday night in the Common Council chambers at City Hall.He will replace Chief Ramon Bethencourt, 48, who will retire Monday after 25 years with the department.Ewanciw joined the department on Jan.
