Every Fourth-grader Gets Free Pass To National Parks

In response to the alarming amount of time American children are spending in front of their favorite electronic device, President Barack Obama’s administration has launched a new program called the Every Kid in a Park Initiative. Every fourth-grader in the nation is eligible for a free pass to the more than 2,000 federally-managed lands and waters, valid during the 2015-2016 school year. The initiative kicked off earlier this month and aims to expose more children in the United States to the outdoors. “I’m excited about getting kids off their cellphones and video games and getting them into the park,” Interpretive Ranger Valerie Gohlke of Carlsbad Caverns National Park said.
