Indianapolis -- In the first half of 2010, Develop Indy, the city's economic development arm, secured commitments from 44 companies to create or retain 9,238 jobs and invest $544 million over the next few years in Indianapolis/Marion County, according to a news release issued Monday. In 2009, the city secured 11,135 job commitments and $157 million in capital investment, which was the second-best year of the past decade for job commitments.
