ELIZABETHTON — A battle for first place in the Three Rivers Conference boys basketball race took place on Tuesday evening at John Treadway Gymnasium. Elizabethton hoped to remain unbeaten atop the league while Sullivan Central was looking for a win that would forge a tie for first. A 14-point Cyclones run to open the fourth quarter was the difference, salvaging a 49-43 win for the league leaders. “I think our intensity up front on that press was a big force,” Elizabethton coach Lucas Honeycutt said.
