The state of Florida has a problem with toxic algae. Robert "Bud" Duthie says he has the solution. Duthie has created a system using UVA and UVB rays that can purify water by removing organics and inorganics. Duthie said his technology can cleanse up to 50 gallons of water per minute.

The Lakeland Police Department is looking for a woman in reference to the shooting death of a South Lakeland man.

County commissioners agreed today to pay for an engineering study to look at the potential for widening Lake Wilson Road in northeast Polk County.
