Tuesday's primary vote will decide several local races

If you want your say in who will sit on the Polk County School Board, the County Commission and a number of other public offices, you'll have your last chance Tuesday. On the ballot will be a number of partisan and nonpartisan races ranging from U.S. Congress to the Canal Commission in Winter Haven. Voting will occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

 

District to try again for failing schools

The outcome has to be better this time for Polk County School District officials when they visit the Florida State Board of Education on Wednesday. They returned from a July meeting with a lot of work to do after the the State Board rejected their turnaround plan for five failing middle schools.
